The vibrant and diverse landscape of Ugandan cinema takes center stage once again at the 2024 Ugandan Film Festival, organized by the Uganda Communications Commission, showcasing the rich Ugandan storytelling, innovation, and talent. Held in Uganda, the festivities of the festival aren’t limited to just Kampala district, this year's festival is set to bring together filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts from across the globe to celebrate the film industry in Uganda.

Diversity was the theme that resonated throughout the festival, with a wide range of films representing various genres, styles, and perspectives. From compelling documentaries shedding light on social issues to captivating narratives exploring the human experience, the lineup of films offer something for every taste and interest.

One of the standout features of last year's festival was the emphasis on indigenous storytelling and cultural representation. Ugandan filmmakers proudly showcased stories rooted in local traditions, folklore, and history, providing audiences with a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the country. These films not only entertained but also served as a platform for preserving and promoting Ugandan culture on the global stage.

This year’s festival is already on the way to be a phenomenal one like the years before, currently running the film festival is showcasing Ugandan films and we’re all for it, today the 29th of May here are the films taking the center stage

Maria is one of them, a story that shades light on mental health highlighting trauma through the story of Maria who struggles though physical, mental and emotional health. The story throws light on an issue alive in the Ugandan society and despite it being a fictional story many Ugandans can relate to Maria’s story. Showing at Century Cinemax, Acacia mall, from 7-9pm the film will also be showing at Numax Cinemas Entebbe on the 1st of June, so if you miss it be sure to catch it then.

Also showing on the 29th of May is “At The Cross” at Cinemax Arena Mall, from 7-9pm and “Law of Consequences” at Numax Cinemas Entebbe 7-9pm, beauty is, all the films are 15,000 Uganda shillings.

As the festival keeps serving us more and more greatness, let’s sit back and enjoy the ride after all we still have a couple of days to go before it all comes to a close.
