Reality TV has slowly and surely taken its place in TV entertainment all over the world from veteran reality shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, to Love Island the thing that keeps viewers interested in them is the drama. A reality TV show isn’t fiction like other productions in the film industry and it’s not a biography or documentary, it’s something else, a reality show follows the day-to-day life of the cast members so it’s an individual or a group of individuals with cameras following them around so their fans can watch them live their basic life.
The notion has been welcomed in Uganda after the Kampala Crème show Mum vs Wife is the new show on our screens every Sunday. Mum vs Wife is a competition show that shows a man judging between his mother and wife’s cooking which is the best. This show smells drama from its title and yes the drama is being served in each episode. Last week’s episode on Pearl Magic Prime had the mother winning and the wife crying because her husband chose his mother’s food over hers. The episode started with the wife and mother verbally going at each other each woman claiming that when it comes to the man in question, her food is better, so it wasn’t a shock to see the wife’s tears as the mother prepared Irish potatoes with beef (katogo) and the wife preparing Posho and beans both meals being his favourite food. Well, the show ends with the husband trying to console his crying wife to no avail.
The show hosted by Ugandan socialite Bina Baibe airs every Sunday at 8 pm and the repeat is on Monday 2 pm on Pearl Magic Prime.
