A passionate Ugandan actress and writer, who uses creativity and storytelling to inspire others and connect audiences to their cultural roots.

Meet Retty Bitanah, a talented actress and writer from Kasambya, Mubende, currently living in Namasuba, Uganda. Retty discovered her passion for acting during her school days, where she excelled in dramas and mimes, showcasing her natural talent and love for performance.

What Retty enjoys most about the film industry is the creativity it demands and the opportunity it provides to tell stories that inspire others. Over time, she has earned recognition and worked on notable projects that have enriched her career.

Her proudest achievement is her role in the film "Debtors Prison." Working alongside people she had admired from afar, this project was a dream come true for Retty. She also treasures the opportunity to act in her native African language, which allows her to celebrate her cultural heritage.

Despite her successes, Retty has faced numerous challenges in the industry. These include theft on set, paying for roles, and disrespect due to a lack of recognition early in her career. However, she remains resilient, choosing acting over challenges and pursuing her dreams with determination.

Retty draws inspiration from Director Swaib Nakibinge, whose work motivates her to aim higher. Her advice to aspiring filmmakers and actors is simple: “If you believe, you can achieve.”

Her goal is to deliver exceptional performances that captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact. Retty sees the film industry as life-changing, with the power to connect people to their roots and preserve a strong sense of cultural identity through storytelling.

When she’s not acting or writing, Retty reveals a surprising fact: she’s a great cook! This passion for creativity in all forms reflects her dynamic personality and dedication to bringing stories to life.
